Forest Management

  • Massachusetts Forest Taxation Law reduces your woodland property taxes to around 95%
  • 2011 tax rate east of the Connecticut river for chapter 61 plans was based on property evaluation of $ 68 /acre x the town tax rate for the individual town
  • There is currently no more cost sharing in 2011 for 2012 Stewardship Plan.
  • We should see more cost sharing to pay landowners coming in 2012 for 2013 plans
  • Kimball is writing plans for the upcoming year. The deadline is June 30,2011 for a 2012 plan
  • The landowner would pay for the plan
  • Money saved in reduced taxes would more than pay for the plan in the 1st year of classification
  • Kimball's Forest Management Plan reference list is available upon request

There is now cost sharing for Forest Stewardship Plans.
Please contact Kimball for the application
Application deadline is May 4, 2012 for the 2013 plans
